Install with the installer

  1. Close your DAW.
  2. Run Nil2Max-Windows-Setup.exe and follow the steps. If Windows warns you, see below.
  3. Open your DAW and rescan plugins.
  4. Load Nil2Max from the Exnilo folder.

Or install from the zip

  1. Close your DAW and unzip Nil2Max-Windows-VST3.zip.
  2. Copy the Nil2Max.vst3 folder into C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 (click Continue if Windows asks for permission).
  3. Open your DAW and rescan plugins.

Rescanning plugins

Ableton LiveSettings › Plug-Ins › turn on Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders › Rescan
Bitwig StudioSettings › Locations › check the VST3 folder is listed (rescans automatically)

Licences

How do I activate Nil2Max?

Open Nil2Max, click DEMO: ACTIVATE at the top and paste the licence key from your order email. You need to be online once. After that it works offline.

Where's my licence key?

In the order email from Lemon Squeezy (our reseller), sent to the address you used at checkout. Check your spam folder. You can also find it with Lemon Squeezy's order lookup.

"This licence is already active on the maximum number of computers"

Your licence covers 2 computers at a time. On a computer you no longer use, open Nil2Max, click the NIL2MAX title and choose Deactivate this computer, then try again. If that computer is gone (sold, broken), email us your order number and we'll reset your activations.

"That licence key wasn't recognised"

Copy the key straight from your order email, making sure there are no spaces at either end. If it still fails, email us your order number.

Moving to a new computer

On the old computer: click the NIL2MAX title, then Deactivate this computer. Then install on the new one and activate with the same key.

"Windows protected your PC"

Windows SmartScreen shows this for software from developers it doesn't know yet, which includes new independent developers like us. The installer is safe to run:

  1. Click More info.
  2. Click Run anyway.

If your PC blocks it completely (some Windows 11 PCs have Smart App Control switched on), use the zip download instead. It's just the plugin folder, so there's nothing to run.

Uninstalling

Use Settings › Apps › Installed apps › Nil2Max › Uninstall, or, if you used the zip, delete Nil2Max.vst3 from C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3. Your presets and licence stay in %APPDATA%\Exnilo\Nil2Max. Delete that folder too to remove everything. Deactivate first if you want to use the licence on another computer.
